Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
Butter one side of each slice of bread.
Place two slices of bread, buttered side down, in the skillet.
Evenly distribute shredded cheese over the bread in the skillet.
Top with dill pickle slices and any remaining cheese.
Cover with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side up.
Cook until the bottom is golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
Carefully flip the sandwich and cook the other side.
Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and the cheese is gooey.
Remove from heat and let it cool for a moment before slicing.
