Cucumber Cream Cheese Sandwich made approachable with clear cues, pantry staples, and flexible swaps.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices of white bread
  • 8 ounces of cream cheese softened
  • 1 teaspoon of fresh dill chopped
  • 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 large cucumber thinly sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Butter for spreading (optional)

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, chopped dill, lemon juice, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth and well blended.
  • If desired, spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each slice of bread for added flavor.
  • Spread a generous layer of the cream cheese mixture on the unbuttered side of four slices of bread.
  • Layer the thin cucumber slices evenly over the cream cheese spread on each of the four slices.
  • Top with the remaining four slices of bread, cream cheese side down, to create sandwiches.
  • Gently press down on the sandwiches to help them hold together, then trim the crusts off if desired for a neater presentation.
  • Cut each sandwich into quarters or triangles, and arrange them on a serving platter.
  • Serve immediately or cover with a damp cloth until ready to serve to keep them fresh.
