- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 slices of cheddar cheese
- 4 slices of bread
- Butter or mayonnaise for grilling
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional toppings: lettuce tomato, pickles, or onion
Divide the ground beef into four equal patties, season with salt and pepper.
Preheat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat.
Cook the beef patties for about 3-4 minutes on one side; flip and place cheese on top.
Continue cooking for another 3-4 minutes or until the desired doneness is reached.
Meanwhile, butter the outside of each slice of bread.
Once the burgers are done, remove them and let rest while grilling the sandwiches.
Grill the bread slices in the same skillet until golden brown, placing a cooked burger between two slices of bread with cheese.
